Flash is a program made by Adobe which allows a user to make mini movies to be broadcast on the Internet. Flash movies are made and saved as a .SWF which the browser is able to recognize and then play.
Flash objects can be be anything from a web page banner with rotating text images to a interactive object such as a menu.
Flash is Vector based, therefore the images look extra sharp and clear. The problem with flash is that it can take significant resources to display on the uses pc browser. Most web designers will try to limit the amount of flash used to a bare minimum to keep page load as fast as possible. Another issue with Flash, is that the Search Engines do not recognize the content inside the .SWF. This means any valuable opportunity to optimize the site is lost.
